Telecom Christmas Tree Lighting

On Saturday the 1st of December the prefects,ambassadors and their families got a wonderful opportunity to go to the Telecom Christmas tree lighting at Victoria park in the city. We all went to Telecom to have a little talk with Karyn, a staff member at Telecom who helped organise the evening, then we all had a talk before we went on foot to the park.

We all got a bag with some food and a drink, then we all went to the park, when we got to the park we all found a spot to sit down and watch the performances, I opened my bag and saw a chicken burger and I went straight for the burger.

When it was time to light the tree Santa came and told us how to light the tree. he said the only way to light the tree was to shout HO HO HO as loud as we can. so he said on 1 2 3 we say HO HO HO as loud as we can, so on 1....2......3... HO HO HO. And the blue lights spiraled up the tree till it hit the top and then the tree lit up the park with colorful colours.

Last Day At Tamaki Tech

Every Thursday the Yr 8’s go down to Tamaki College, we had our normal classes I was in the cooking class with Miss Heka,we made Keesh. When the class was over Miss told us that we had a transition and have some other classes.

Our second class was English with Mrs Emery and Mr Stevenson, at english we read about a missing Lion poem. the the teacher said we had to write our own poem. I wrote about a missing gorila.

When we finished our poem we had to go into a room and record our poem,overall english was really fun. the the best subject for me was music with Mr telefoni. We had to write a rap about school,community,yourself. then we all had to perform in front of our class.

Film Festival 2012

On our way to sylvia park for the film festival on the bus from pt england, we were all chanting and singing. When we got there we were all excited to enter the BIG screen. we all went to our seats. We were all talking and then the lights just went of and it was pitch black.

Then the movies started, when our movie came on we were all shouting YAY and then hosannah started to talk and we all went quiet then the movie started, the movie was called from the inside. After all it was great, and everyone liked it, after room 20’s movie the lights went on Mrs Burt said that that was the end but the tamaki college had to stay.

We all went back on the bus to go back to school. we all had a wonderful day and everyone went home happy

The Patupaiarehe

Our dad was telling us about the Patupaiarehe the Maori fairies. They lived in the swamp land way past our fence. they were good but we didn’t really know what they would do next so we were careful, so we avoided them.

The sands would often shift to reveal bits of taiaha and other weapons, such as greenstone mere and stone adzes, sometime my brother would carry pieces of the old weapons and stones.

We reached the paddock that gave us access to the sand hills,there was heavy fog so we decided to wait until it went away and so we did, the fog was gone and we carried on walking we reached a place with large tree and we walked past it and we reached a strange place, then we saw the fairies and my little sister got scared and my other sister just kept on walking towards the fairies.

We called her to come back but she didn't that was a problem. we called and called but she was still going towards the fairies it was like she was hypnotised. Then I remembered that my dad said that if anyone one of us is walking towards the fairies, that you should tackle them, and so I did.

Hot Pusuit

Starting up our engines we were all ready for the street race I Looked to my left and I saw Stevie in his Dodge Challenger, I look to my right and I see Dominiq on his Ford Shelby Mustang GT500.

Starting up my Camaro ss we were all ready to win and place 1st we all started revving our engines, everything went silent then all you could here was 3....2....1.. GO! everyone shouted. We all stepped on the gas and we were all gone.


Halfway through the  race my car was ahead was coming first Dom 2nd and stevie 3rd. Almost at the finish I saw blue and red lights I warned Dom and stevie the cops were coming and I told them to split up and so we did. I kept on racing to the end Stevie and Dom took a shortcut in the race. Dom and Stevie raced back to me and were all on the run we almost escaped until Stevie’s car got shot by an EMP (Electromagnetic Pulse)
the EMP shut down Stevie’s whole car and he stopped his engine  and he got caught then I saw a cop car in front of us and I told Dom to hit it and we did but it wasn't enough the cop car deployed a spike strip and It hit Dom and his wheels pop and he got caught.

I pushed my car to the limit to test how fast the car would go. I saw that there were no light’s so I hid in a dark spot until all the cop cars went past. I went home and thought of a way to bust out Stevie and Dom.  
 

I Want To Be A Mechanic

Growing up seeing my dad and his friends fixing cars,Wanted me to be like my dad and be a mechanic. My dad taught me what kind of parts there are on cars. My dad would fix cool cars and old cars.

I wanted to be like my dad because If one of my friends or family’s car broke down or something went wrong with it I could fix it. One day I went to a work shop because my uncle’s car broke down in the middle of the road.

When I’m older I want to have a workshop of my own and work with my friend logan, and we could collect cars.

Smoking Not My Future

In our class we have been learning about second hand smoking and the diseases that you can get if you smoke.


The likelihood of when you smoke you might get some sort of cancer in your body.S Sometimes when you smoke the blood flow can’t get into some of the body parts like the brain,leg,arm etc. If that happens you will need to amputate or cut off your leg or whatever body part is the blood is not going into.

The consequences of smoking among young people is that they can get lung cancer. When  young people start to smoke the thing inside the smoke called tobacco is very addicting and it is hard for people to give up or quit smoking.

The chances of you getting a disease from smoking? When someone starts to smoke then can’t stop because the brain says that they want more and more of that stuff that they smoked. Most people who smoke get yellow teeth and very smelly breath.

I believe that when you smoke it can do a lot of damage to the body and the brain and how the blood flows and you can die.SMOKING NOT MY FUTURE!

Cross Country Practice

GO! Mrs Nua said as we started our cross country practice.Running with the boys trying to keep in front,then I see people overtaking me as we got the the bend of the car park.

I reached the gate at a slow pace.I turned around and ran back to school heading back I started walking and people were overtaking me,then I heard someone saying RUN!! SAMSON RRUUNN!!,and so I ran.

I got to the finish exhausted and thirsty.dying for water I walked to the tap and had a drink and I was off to class.

Sarah Walker

As the BMX riders got ready I was keeping my eye on Sarah Walker in the white and black representing New Zealand. As the bars go down the racers sprint trying to overtake their opponents.

I was shouting  “GO SARAH” As she was leading the pack, everyone shouting for their favourite rider and country.As Sarah was on the home strech she was over taken.

The race was intense but sadly she placed 2nd.But New Zealand and her family and also her hometown Whakatane are very Proud of her.Sarah walker is my favourite BMX rider.

My Acrostic Poem

Only fit and strong people go to the Olympics.
Long sprints running as fast as we can trying to finish first.
YAHOO!!I finished the race.
Many people try hard to get in the olympics training all-day.
Practice makes perfect.
Its really intense in the olympics because you don't know you how fast or strong the people you are competing against.

Swimming

Getting a gold medal for placing first.

Tyson Gay is my inspiration.

Tyson Gay was born in U.S.A on August 9 1982 in a city called Lexington, Kentucky. He is my inspiration  because he trained hard on the track and field. Guess what? He beat Usain Bolt, and he had a personal best at the 100m sprint he got the time of 9.69.

He competes in the 100 meter and 200 meter sprints, in the olympics he represents America, at the 2008 olympic trials  he suffered a major hamstring injury,Tyson gay is regularly tested to ensure that his body is good of performance.

He is a three time U.S.A world champ in the 100 meter sprint,his performance of 9.71 seconds in the 100 meter race.Tyson gay was inspired by his mother, he took every opportunity to race. He trained at school and on near hills. Tyson Gay inspires me to train hard and to never give up.

“When Is The Right time to swear?”

The right time to swear is never just as long as you don’t say it in public. Our class has been reading two articles about a town just out of Boston which have voted that if you swear in public you would get a 20$ fine, they voted for this to be approved in a town meeting.

Sometimes when your angry it's hard to hold back the swearing. I think that there is no reason to swear because it is a profanity. In some contries they have banned swearing in public, just like boston.

Swearing in public is bad because when there are little kids around you they might copy you.People swear because they get angry of they are just stressed

Humans On Mars By 2023

A new space venture out of the netherlands planned to put four humans on Mars by the year of 2023.The plan is complex and it involves companies from around the world,the companies will come together and help with the right supplies for the colony such as life support.

Mars one is the company that claims that humans will be on mars by the year 2023.The four humans will work and live on mars.Time by time Mars one will be putting humans on Mars by 2023.

Technology Tamaki College

Every monday last year we had tech at tamaki college we had to do subjects for half an hour,our subjects were Woodwork,Food,Electronics,Graphics and Science.This year we have a new subject japanese,the teacher for japanese is Sensei ishibashi,we learnt basic japanese words like hello is Ohayo and if you say to a adult you have to say ohayo gozimas.and the months,numbers,origami.It was really fun at Japanese.now we go to tamaki every Thursday.

Sports People Play

The sport that I like to play is Rugby,because you can shoulder charge the person with the ball.When I get the ball I like to look for gap in the defence line and try and run pass it a score a try,My favourite position is halfback and winger.

Halfback is the person who grabs the ball out of the ruck,the ruck is when the person get tackled and falls to the ground. Then 3 people come and put their foot over the person, and push so the other team don’t get the ball.My favourite team are the South Sydney Rabbitohs,My favourite player is Chris Sandow.

Las Day Of Camp

SPLASH!!!I bombed in to the pool,swimming to the ladder watching my friend bomb.I went back in line to have another go,then I saw the vodafone warriors I ran to see what they were doing at the pools,everyone was shouting WARRIORS WARRIORS!!My highlight for camp was seeing my favourite all time vodafone warrior Shaun Johnson.when it was time to leave we all had to line up in our group lines and get in the bus and go school.
At the end of the day it was a great experience meeting the warriors,and having a great time with my friends.

Monday the 12 of March,What an Exiting first day for Ptengland school camp so far my favourite part of camp was hanging out with my friends.arriving at our first activity were to make Scones at food prep.My favourite part about it was at the end eating the Scones.

Moving on to our next activity is was kayaking TO BE CONTINUED .....

All year long room 19 are learning about being cyber smart in the class and at home

Being Cyber Smart is being on the right thing on the internet and to comment positively.

When your online you have to be on something Appropriate and searching the right stuff.

When you download on the net you have to make sure its legal and that you take Responsibility if your in trouble.

Duffy Show At Pt England School

Laughing with the my friends as we were watching the Duffy Show inside the school hall.we were all Duffy Fans,The story was about the greatest book in the world.My favorite scene was when Sonny Bill Williams (not the real one) was when he got a present for his daughter Emmy.

The present was the greatest book in the world,they ask some people from the crowd to be the rapping paper and then Emmy took the rapping paper off The present was the book my favorite character was Wiri was so funny at the end we all said goodbye and still laughing

Net Ball With Liz

last week on Thursday the new room 19,had a netball session with Liz on the hard court.When we got there their was another class room 18 they held us up,when the finished their game,the instructor Liz told us to stand on dots and crosses people on the dot had to were bibs (net ball bibs) and the people on crosses had no bibs.

We teamed up with the person to the right,we got a ball and we had to pass to one another when we finished we play a game,4 corners,it was bibs vs non bibs when the game started it was passing,running,scoring at the end of the game my team lost bibs it was 6-5,at the end we talked to liz and then we went back to class for morning tea.

This term,in maths,we are learning about statistics.As part of our learning we are examining data related to our health.first part of examination we collected data(information) about the food we ate for on week(2/2 to 9/2.The graph(or chart) shows how much I ate from six major food groups.

Treaty of waitangi

Christian Missionaries had taught Maori to Read assisted in the writing of the Treaty.The Maori were afraid that France would come and annexe New Zdealand.The Britain settlers had power over the Maori because they had muskets.Their were war between iwi and the early settlers for land and muskets.Then one man thought of a treaty.William hobson signed the treaty for the queen.

My Little Brother

My little brother Jabez is ANNOYING ! It’s like he wants me to beat him and then he would stop or not.I just can’t stand it,I don’t really beat him up like punch his gut his eye or grab something and whack him with something,I just punch his arm a few times and guess what he doe’s he LAUGHS! the I laugh as well.sometimes he would cry and I would say sorry.But he’s still my little brother.
